The Mediterranean Diet is a very valuable cultural legacy and a lifestyle which represents much more than a simple rich and healthy nutritional guideline. This diet combines the ingredients of the Mediterranean Agriculture, recipes and ways to cook, which lead us to an excellent mode of healthy life.

Among the key standards of this food pattern we can highlight the kind of fat that comes from the olive oil, fish and nuts -among them, almonds- and the proportions of the principal nutrients which characterize this diet and the wealth of the micronutrients which contains.

Nowadays this diet has been imposed as a dietary pattern because of its positive effects in general in the health and concretely due to its role in the prevention of cancer, diabetes and cardiovascular illnesses.

Even UNESCO recognizes this diet as one of the elements of the Intangible Cultural Patrimony of the Humanity.
